     Known for its elegant orchids, exotic fruits and Muslim heritage, Davao is Mindanao's premier city and the gateway to the region's attractions. At 244,000 hectares, it is the world's largest city in terms of land area. Its boundaries encompass commercial areas as well as beaches, mountains, and forests. Davao is the industrial hub of Mindanao with corporate center, manufacturing sites, shopping centers, hotels and casinos.
Points of interest

Mt. Apo, A Tribal God's Abode - Cabarisan, Davao City/ Kapatagan, Davao del Sur. This is the tallest peak in the country at 10,311 feet above sea level, the mightiest upward surge of a long mountain range extending from North Cotabato, Davao del Sur and Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao. Mt. Apo National Park is listed as a world wildlife heritage site
Puentespina Orchid Garden - The garden features many varieties of native orchids, including the rare Waling-Waling, regarded as the most beautiful orchid in the Philippines.
San Pedro Cathedral - Located in San Pedro St., C.M. Recto Avenue Davao City. This is Davao City's oldest Church named after San Pedro, the patron Saint of Davao.
Davao Museum - Insular Village, Lanang, Davao City, 12 kms. from Davao City. A landmark which offers the opportunity to understand the soul of the people of Davao. Its main gallery is a repository of tribal art and other culture.
The Philippine Eagle Research and Nature Center - Found on the slopes of Mt. Apo, this is the sanctuary of this endangered species. The Philippine eagle, a majestic bird of prey with a wing span of 2.5 meters, has been saved from extension and is now a national symbol.
HOW TO GET THERE
Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Philippines operate between Manila and Davao regularly using modern aircraft configured in business and economy classes. Flight time is about 95 minutes.
WG & A Super Ferry operates three services weekly between Manila and Davao. The voyage takes about 60 hours and most vessels offer accommodation from luxury to economy class.
